CANDLE CARE FAQs
What is a Soy Candle?
Soy candles are made from soy wax which is produced from soybeans, a completely renewable resource. Soy wax is a clean burning alternative to traditional wax candles, which are generally made from petroleum based waxes. In addition, soy wax candles burn longer than traditional candles.
Please note, with the clear glass, you may see some air bubbles on the sides of the candles. These air bubbles, known as “wet spotting”, are a naturally occurring feature of natural waxes and disappear when the candle is lit. It does not affect the performance of the candle at all.
What are some tips for making my candle last longer?
Candle Care Tip #1: Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4 inch long to prevent large flames causing hotter heating temperatures and faster melting wax. (Trimming your wick will also help reduce soot from your flame in your jar.)
Candle Care Tip #2: Soy wax has a memory and will only burn as far as it did on the previous burn. So, it is important to allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the jar on every burn. This will prevent the candle from burning down the middle, also known as tunneling.
Candle Care Tip #3: If you are experiencing excessive soot, try trimming your wicks to 1/8’’, moving your candle to another less drafty location, or extinguish your candle if it has been burning for more than 3-4 hours.
Candle Care Tip #4: If your candle is not releasing a strong enough fragrance, try moving the candle to another location. The rule of thumb is a single wick candle is best for smaller rooms, a double wick candle is best for medium sized rooms, and a triple wick candle is best for larger rooms.
Candle Care Tip #5: If your candle is tunneling (wax buildup on the edges of the candle), it is likely that the candle has not been burning long enough for the wax to pool from edge to edge, so try burning the candle for 3-4 hours to allow the candle to self correct.
Candle Care Tip #6: If your candle wick is not staying lit, it is likely the wick is clogged from the wax and fragrance, so try extinguishing the flame, wait for the candle to cool, trim the tip of the wick, then twist the wick with your fingers to loosen the fibers in the wick. This will allow for the fragrance and wax to more freely absorb through the wick.
Candle Care Tip #7: When lighting your candle for the first time, burn until wax melts across the entire surface to the sides of the vessel. This may take up to 2-4 hours.
Candle Care Tip #8: To preserve the fragrance of the candle, do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
Candle Care Tip #9: Do not blow out your candle. Extinguish it with a snuffer, or dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten the wick to prevent smoking and also prevent hot wax from splattering.
Candle Care Tip #10: To maximize scent throw, burn your candle in the desired space for 30 minutes with the door closed.
REED DIFFUSER FAQs
Step 1: Place the sticks that came with your reed diffuser into the bottle to absorb the essential oils.
Step 2: Flip sticks so that the unsaturated dry side of the sticks is now in the bottle and the saturated end is in the air.
Step 3: Let your reed diffuser naturally permeate your space. Reed diffusers will continue to evaporate into the air, creating an aromatic and luxurious scent.
Step 4: Simply repeat steps 2 and 3 to refresh the fragrance of the reed diffuser.
NOTE: Parents should keep diffusers out of reach from children and pets. Please remember diffuser oils are flammable, so do not light and keep away from open flames.
